The evening of Sunday, January 18, was marked by a tragic train accident in Spain, when a train operated by the private operator Iryo, departing Malaga at 6:40 PM and headed for Madrid's Atocha station, derailed near Adamuz (Córdoba), for reasons currently under investigation. This dramatic event involved 317 passengers and had tragic consequences for dozens of them: according to reports, the derailment particularly affected the last three carriages of the Iryo train, which invaded the adjacent line. At least 39 people have been confirmed dead. Link video:
Clarifications: The actual collapse occurred during the night between Valentine's Day (February 14, 2026) and the following Sunday. The images were filmed during an inspection by the Puglia Region, which took place in the presence of the Puglia Governor Antonio Decaro on Monday, February 16, 2026. The images show the remains of the Arch of Sant'Andrea, located in the coastal area of Melendugno (in the province of Lecce ) and presumably destroyed by water infiltration caused by rain during the hours of severe weather.
