On January 13th 2025, firefighters were called to Rignano sull'Arno, a town in the province of Florence, Tuscany, after a tree fell onto a bus. Two fire crews, a rescue vehicle, and a crane were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance and remove the obstruction. Upon arrival, the two adults and eight children on board had already been attended to by medical personnel. The passengers' injuries were deemed minor. The accident, which occurred in a rural area, was caused by the collapse of a poplar tree. The tree fell across the road and struck the front of the school bus. Fortunately, despite the force of the impact, there were no serious injuries. Rescue operations concluded with the area being made safe and the damaged vehicle being removed. Video:
The fury of Cyclone Harry—which hit Italy primarily in Sicily, Calabria, and Sardinia—was also documented in a video released online by the Fire Department, filmed along the Catania coast. An unprecedented storm surge severely hit the Sicilian coast, leaving local municipalities struggling to cope with the devastating damage. Recent captured images show the severe consequences, particularly in Mascali, a municipality in the province of Catania, where the devastation is palpable. Link video: #catania #cyclone #italy
