On January 13th 2025, firefighters were called to Rignano sull'Arno, a town in the province of Florence, Tuscany, after a tree fell onto a bus. Two fire crews, a rescue vehicle, and a crane were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance and remove the obstruction. Upon arrival, the two adults and eight children on board had already been attended to by medical personnel. The passengers' injuries were deemed minor. The accident, which occurred in a rural area, was caused by the collapse of a poplar tree. The tree fell across the road and struck the front of the school bus. Fortunately, despite the force of the impact, there were no serious injuries. Rescue operations concluded with the area being made safe and the damaged vehicle being removed. Video:
Clarifications: The actual collapse occurred during the night between Valentine's Day (February 14, 2026) and the following Sunday. The images were filmed during an inspection by the Puglia Region, which took place in the presence of the Puglia Governor Antonio Decaro on Monday, February 16, 2026. The images show the remains of the Arch of Sant'Andrea, located in the coastal area of Melendugno (in the province of Lecce ) and presumably destroyed by water infiltration caused by rain during the hours of severe weather.
